Is Bestie Button meant for emergencies?
Bestie Button is a non‑emergency device. In an emergency, you should always contact your local emergency services directly.
Bestie Button is designed to alert your trusted contacts — but it does not replace emergency services.
Is a subscription required?
No. Bestie Button does not require a subscription.
Once purchased, you can use it with no ongoing fees
Will the message send even if the phone is locked?
Yes the message will send even if the phone is locked
Can Bestie Button be used in any country?
Bestie Button works in the UK, Ireland, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, Central America and South America, as long as the app is installed, Bluetooth is enabled, and your phone has a network connection to send SMS messages.
How to add and delete contacts?
Within the Bestie Button app, Click the manage contacts text, press the plus
symbol. Phone directory will open, tap the screen with your finger on the
contact name. Tap the number to add the contact. To delete the contact swipe
left and delete on the manage contacts page on the app
My Bestie Button isn’t working — what should I do?
First, check that Bluetooth is turned on and that the Bestie Button app is open
in the background. The smart button relies on an active Bluetooth connection.
The app will clearly show whether your button is connected — please check
this before heading out. The app has an in built button that can be also be used.
Does the smart button have a battery?
Yes. The smart button has a built in battery with an approximate lifespan of 2
years, depending on use.
The app will always show the current battery level of your device so you know
when it needs attention. Please monitor battery life and replace when needed.
Can the battery for the Button be replaced?
Yes. Bestie Button uses a standard CR2032 coin cell battery, and it can be easily replaced by opening the back cover of the Flic Smart Button. Most users only need to replace it every 2 years. The app will indicate low battery.
Does the smart button work without the app?
No. The Bestie Button app is required for the device to function.
The app must remain open in the background to maintain the Bluetooth
connection.
Will the message send if the app is closed?
No, the message will not send it you close the app, you must keep the app running in the background. This is the same as all apps such as music playing to Bluetooth headphones. You can use other apps, lock your phone, just do not swipe up to close the app, otherwise the Bluetooth connection will fail.
What to do if I change location?
Bestie Button send your current location only, not your live location. If you change location you can press the button again to share your new location.
What is the Bluetooth Range?
Bluetooth range is typically up to 50m, but this depends on your surroundings. Walls, ceilings, and distance can reduce the connection. For example, if the Bestie Button is on you but your phone is in a handbag in another room, the Bluetooth connection may drop.
Do you require mobile phone credit?
Yes. Most mobile contracts include free SMS messages, so there is usually no extra cost. If your plan charges per text, your network will apply that rate. If you use pay‑as‑you‑go and have no credit, the SMS will not send
What are the emergency numbers by country?
Emergency numbers vary by country. The most common are:
- 999 – UK & Ireland
- 112 – Europe (also works on all GSM phones worldwide)
- 911 – USA, Canada, Central & South America (varies by country)
